Dave Carroll on customer service and social media

Here are thoughtful reflections by the creator of the Youtube hit, United Breaks Guitars (Average schmo: 1. United Airlines: 0). Dave proved that corporations ignore social media at their peril: United Airlines’ brand, and its market value, were harmed when United Breaks Guitars garnered millions of views on Youtube.

Dave is much more than a musician. He’s leveraged his United Breaks Guitars success into a speaking career and helped to start Gripevine.com, a site that attempts to connect unhappy customers with helpful managers. His message is that companies can avoid public relations disasters by focusing on customer service. Watch this excellent November 2012 interview.
