The local Circuit City store’s parking lot has been unusually full, now that the large US-based retail chain is going out of business and liquidating its assets. When I visited the store last week, I found no great deals.
Circuit City has contracted with a liquidator to dispose of their inventory. Apparently the liquidator is free to do this by any means they choose. It appears that in some cases the liquidator has marked formerly discounted items with a “manufacturer’s suggested retail price” and then discounted from THAT price. Result: no price saving.
My suggestion: don’t bother visiting your local Circuit City store until the last week in March. On 31 March, all Circuit City stores will close and maybe then the liquidator will finally start to blow out the inventory at heavily discounted prices.
